The Munster Schools Mungret Shield is a seeded knockout competition for non A Schools at U15 level.

There are 4 qualifiers from the King Cup. The qualifiers play a seeded team in Round 1. If a qualifier wins in Round 1 then the seeded team they beat replaces the qualfier in the King Cup. If a qualifier loses in Round 1 the qualifier reverts back to the King Cup.

Glenstal will play the winner of the Junior Development League. This match will take place on Wednesday 17th January 2007, Glenstal playing AWAY. If Glenstal win this match Glenstal will become Semi-Finalist Q. If Glenstal lose this match, then Glenstal will replace their victor in the Round 1 draw (the winner of the league will be one of the seeded teams in Round 1).
